PhD student Anya Franks and I traveled to Brisbane, Australia earlier this month to attend the TerpNet 2025 conference. TerpNet is a biannual, international conference organized by leading terpene chemists and biochemists from around the globe. This year, it was immaculately planned and run by Prof. Claudia Vickers and Dr. Jordi Perez. Despite incredible competition, Anya won best graduate student poster award for her work, entitled “A Synthetic Carbon Assimilation Shunt Boosts Terpenoid Biosynthesis In Plants”. This well deserved award highlights her contributions to terpene synthetic biology and bodes well for the imminent submission of her first manuscript describing this work. Congratulations, Anya!
