The Phillips lab trains graduate students and post-doctoral fellows in gas and liquid chromatography – mass spectrometry (GCMS and LCMS). Analytical data and methods development in our publications generally come from in house instruments maintained and operated directly by lab personnel.
See our sample submission page if you are interested in sending samples for mass spectrometry analysis.

We collaborate with the UTM Academic Machine shop for custom fabrication of laboratory instruments for plant research.
Our lab specializes in 13CO2 whole plant stable isotope labeling. We use customized, open-flow, labeling cuvettes designed and fabricated at UTM facilities.
Environmentally regulated single plant cuvettes for gas exchange and isotopic labeling assays (Nicotiana benthamiana shown).

Hand microtome designed and made in the UTM Academic Machine Shop. This custom tool facilitates agarose embedding and thin sectioning of plant tissue for microscopy.
